A light Saturday in the NHL

Leads into 11 games on Sunday

Saturday had just five games on the schedule. Strange times. Boston erupted offensively against the reeling Flyers, Columbus showed surprising resolve against Tampa Bay, St. Louis and Winnipeg won as expected and Montreal continued to put the hammer down on the struggling Canucks.

The big news from Saturday was a blockbuster trade that gave three disgruntled young forwards a chance to be gruntled again. I don’t mind either side of the deal and I wrote about it here.

Injuries/roster adjustments

WSH RW Tom Wilson suffered a lower-body injury against Buffalo Friday.

MIN G Cam Talbot left Friday’s win against San Jose with a lower-body injury.

BOS D Matt Grzelcyk did not play Saturday against Philadelphia due to a lower-body injury. He has been on the verge of injury nearly every game this season, it seems.

CAR RW Jesper Fast has been added to the Covid-19 list.

DAL LW Jamie Benn is day-to-day with a lower-body injury suffered in the Stars’ first game of the season on Friday.

DET RW Filip Zadina has been added to the Covid-19 list.

NSH LW Calle Jarnkrok is on the IR with an undisclosed injury.

TB D Erik Cernak left Saturday’s game at Columbus with an injury and did not return.
