Erik Karlsson, D, San Jose

He is not vintage Karlsson but showing signs of life offensively even if the points aren’t there yet.

Tim Stutzle, LW, Ottawa

1 G, 6 A, 25 SOG in past 7 GP

Really making the most of his opportunities with Drake Batherson, the rookie winger is getting pucks on net at an impressive rate.

Frank Vatrano, LW, Florida

Goals in three straight games, 28 SOG in past 8 GP

Vatrano has always been able to shoot and has a spot on the Panthers’ top line with Anthony Duclair out.

Sell High

Mark Scheifele, C, Winnipeg

8 G, 13 A, 25 SOG in past 14 GP

You had better get a superstar in return because Scheifele is on a good run but his shot rates aren’t ideal for that kind of production.

Mats Zuccarello, RW, Minnesota

3 G, 8 A, 16 SOG in 9 GP

Got off to a great start and if that buzz would bring some value in trade, it’s probably worthwhile.

Digging Deep

The New York Rangers signed Colin Blackwell as a free agent in the offseason after he had 10 points in 33 games for the Nashville Predators in the previous two seasons. But his underlying numbers were decent and there was some reason to be optimistic about his potential value. He didn’t even have a regular spot to start this season either but Blackwell has stuck with it and is now playing in a top-six role and getting power play time for the Rangers. He has five points (4 G, 1 A) in the past seven games so he has a little more upside than a player rostered in 2% of Yahoo leagues.
